Helena Barnard
Modern/Jazz Mistress
Helena's passion for dancing has spanned many years. She started ballet at the age of 4 in Bedfordshire with Sheila Coxhill, where she worked through the grades of the Royal Academy of Dance syllabus, rarely missing a class. As she progressed, she developed an interest in Tap and Modern, and was eventually given the opportunity to choreograph work of her own for individuals and groups.
Having recently passed a major ballet examination at the Royal Academy of Dance in London, Helena is now undertaking her teaching qualification with the Royal Academy, working with Ribbons to achieve this latest goal. Her main area of responsibility within the school is in the modern/jazz dance section of the curriculum, a discipline she hopes to expand.
Aside from sharing her passion for dance with people of all ages and abilities, she still gets her greatest pleasure from seeing people smile, just because they feel the sense of achievement that comes with each success... from mastering a step to passing an exam
"I have learnt that dance can be enjoyed by people of all ages and abilities - it's about how it makes you feel! I look forward to seeing many smiling faces in the future."
